Discover

The first female RAF pilot to fly the Tornado G4 Fighter Jet on the frontline, Mandy Hickson approached Silverback® to elevate her growing status as a keynote speaker and business leadership navigator. Keen to instill a Personal Brand that captured Mandy’s capabilities as an inspirational guide and leadership mentor – the mission was clear.

Through discovery sessions, we created a Vision, Mission & Values document, as well as a Tone of Voice document to inform the website copy. Once refined, both documents were then used to guide and inform the design strategy and process.

Design

Enabled by our discovery work, we designed and developed a logo unique to Mandy’s skillset as an inspirational keynote speaker and her aviation expertise. Formed with purpose, direction, distinction, and velocity, we employed the logo as an accent tool and design feature throughout the site build itself. 

The logo captures the runway and airstrips associated with flight, while the hero colour of orange resembles the signalling system employed to direct pilots. The deep blue hue serves as an indicator of the altitude and heights that are achievable in business and life.

With a visual identity in place, the design for Mandy’s website, further collateral, and assets are ready to be executed with all the precision and skill of, ahem, a fighter pilot.

Develop

As we began to develop the brand and website, we introduced motion graphics and showreels to provide a look and feel that encompassed Mandy’s background as a Fighter Pilot. This enables the user to experience the ‘Take Off’ and ‘Landing’ synonymous with flying – in life and in business.

Deliver

Our passion for design and our expertise in building relationships were demonstrated by the Silverback® Troop acting as an auxiliary unit to Squadron leader Mandy, and her team throughout the project. 

The final destination? Visual identity, website design, brand guidelines, logos, showreels, PowerPoint presentations, and educational worksheets… Helping Mandy stand up and stand out for what she stands for, the Troop has created and launched a personal brand that proves that the sky is not the limit but just the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
